Thirty days has September, April, June and November. Which is why this April will be the first Speckled Duck 'Send 30 Cards in 30 Days' Challenge! We all know that sending handwritten notes is just something we need to be doing. We should do it because it makes people feel good to receive mail. We should do it because it makes us feel good to connect with people we care about. So what stops you from jotting a quick note and tossing it in the mailbox? It's probably the same for us all.

So, let's join together and stop making excuses. Let's send, in the mail, 30 cards in 30 days. Let's see how it makes us feel. Let's see how it makes the recipients of our cards feel, then let's do it again in June!

Are ya with me? Great! Now go find yourself 30 cards and 30 stamps and get ready, because April 1st will be here before you know it and you want to be ready to face this challenge head on!
I've created a 30 card box set special for this challenge. You can pre-order your box here (in my Etsy shop) now until March 11th (pre-orders help me get the cards out on time, so please do so if you can!). The kits will ship via Priority Mail the week of March 25th so you'll have them before the start of the challenge! You'll get 15 designs, two of each card plus white envelopes. There will be a mix of cards so that you have plenty of options to choose from during the month.

I am really looking forward to this, I hope you will join me!

Today is back to school for many of our youngsters. Mine is starting kindergarten! Still seems impossible, where on earth did the last five and a half years go? Wow. It's bittersweet, on one hand, I want him to stay little forever, but watching him grow up is pretty amazing too. I know I will be anxiously waiting to hear how his day went.

I know as a kid, I always loved taking little gifts to my teachers. The Speckled Duck offers a great selection of personalized notecards  that would make wonderful teacher gifts! We have school-themed cards, cards with flowers and some that are great for the men teachers too! Check out the Etsy shop for ordering a set for your child's teacher!

Since I am rather new to blogging, I thought I would come up with some themes to help me get into the swing of writing weekly. One thing I am pretty passionate about is sending thank you notes, so why not have a Thank You Thursday? What do you think?

One of my absolute favorite things to give and receive are thank you notes; real hand-written sent by snail mail thank you notes. To me, these tiny little notes speak volumes, even when they are only a few words. Taking a couple of minutes to wAlthough they are nice, no email or phone call quite measures up to how I feel about receiving a thank you note, and I save every single one.

I use to feel daunted by a stack of thank you's to write, but I found a great little Hallmark book called On a Personal Note A Guide to Writing Notes with Style that breaks down the different kinds of notes you may need to send and gives you a guideline for writing. If you want to brush up on your note writing, I suggest picking up a copy of this book! Check back here too on Thursdays for tips and ideas for writing your notes.

Start simple, make sure you have a stash of note cards and stamps at all times, you never know when you'll need one! When I buy stamps, I usually tear of 4 or 8 to leave on my desk and add the same amount to my wallet, that way I always have one when I need it. Note cards are fairly easy to come by, and you'll find that we offer quite a selection of thank you notes as well as personalized note cards that are perfect to have around for when you want to say thanks or thinking of you!
